Archant, the English news publisher responsible for some 60 weekly titles, 4 daily regional newspapers, around 80 magazines, and 180 websites, has just added a new jewel to its portfolio. Enter Archant Reporter.
Archant Reporter is built on our Reporter Kit platform with the most robust feature set for any of our clients to date. Their community site will the destination for readers of Archant titles to play an active role in spreading the news, through contributing their own photos and videos of news events.

Readers will be able to gain experience points through participation, with bonuses going out to members who send in the most interesting stuff. The number of points rewarded will be a function of both Archant journalists’ opinions (“editor’s choice” selections), and naturally, what their fellow readers think. The more commented on, more shared, and more viewed a contribution is, the more that contributor gets rewarded.
Archant Reporters also have awesome member profiles (with a Facebook-style activity feed ), that they can use to connect with other readers (a la Twitter), and form news teams around neighborhoods or areas of interest.
Lastly, Archant Reporters will be able to take the experience with them wherever they go with the Archant Reporter iPhone and Android applications. They’ll be able to upload photos and videos directly to the community, and browse reader-supplied news in a number of categories. Non-members can even join from within the app using their Facebook accounts!
Get ready, Archant Reporter is about to fundamentally change the way Archant readers interact with news.
